NSDL New Management Entity

This Spring the NSDL announced an upcoming competition for a new "Managing Entity" for the over Digital Library. This announcement came in the form of a "Dear Colleague" letter.

Although details do not yet exist, discussions with NSF people seem to indicate that:

• There will still be functions similar to what is currently done by the CI
• Issues of collaborations with entities outside of the NSDL will probably be very important for this new entity.
• Sustainability, marketing, those sorts of things will probably be very important for this new entity.
