Evaluation Efforts

Questions

What is the value of the things currently being measured? What else needs to be measured?

What information can we get about the general visitor (not member) of ComPADRE? How? (A large number of

What needs to be tracked on each collection?

Current Measures

  • Web Metrics - Number of users, number of page views, most popular pages, click maps, geographical information
  • Surveys - Very few. Just finished one to understand faculty (and teacher) use of digital library content, and digital libraries.
  • User Interviews - Watch a few users go through a collection. Mostly functional, few people, not a regular operation.
  • Workshop Surveys - Surveys after tutorials and workshops on ComPADRE collecting thoughts and experience. We need to follow up on those taking the surveys, for those who indicated they would be willing to participate further. We have also performed some surveys in conjunction with conferences.

Future Efforts

  • Micro-surveys - One or two question surveys connected to Detail Pages and other pages asking demographic information and purpose for being on ComPADRE.
    • What questions would be appropriate?
    • How often and how obtrusive might these be?
    • To what pages should they be linked?
  • File cabinet usage - Contact those who have used their file cabinet extensively (very few) and interview them.
  • Usage tracking - Connect with and track members to follow their ComPADRE usage.

Advisory Board

In October we discussed ComPADRE efforts with an advisory board of six with different experiences with digital libraries, education, etc.
