Marketing

Bookmarks & Brochures

• Caroline and Susana are working on brochures. We have other marketing materials.
• Discussions are starting with Rob Merz about connecting to AAPT marketing efforts.

Booth Materials

• Matt has created a list of materials and display equipment that is used for the ComPADRE booth presence. This will be used for preparing for all events.

Shodor

• Shodor rep is awaiting completed brochures and bookmarks.

Collaborations

AAPT/APS

• Talent Search - This is not a comPADRE project, but we've been helping the AAPT with it. This has reached a point where it is working on our development site, but we have not received the pages that will allow for registration. Matt is looking into this.

ADS/ABS

• ADS/ABS linking is complete. Take a look at it here: provide link

  • Their Extended Search Page: http://www.compadre.org/per/search/ads.cfm
• The only item remaining to do is to create a way to cache this information so that it isn't looked up with each page load.

NSBP

• Lyle needs to restart communications with the NSBP Technical side regarding transparent login between the NSBP and comPADRE.

SERC

• Preliminary interface is created. Now that April is here, Lyle will work with Sean Fox on improving the interface. Additional discussions for convenient linking are also being discussed.
• Requested help from editors to create more ComPADRE-related examples for SERC. The goal is to have one or two dozen examples in interactive lecture/demos, Just-in-time-teaching, and Peer Instruction are wanted.
• A SERC-related workshop will be held during the Summer AAPT meeting. The process for recruiting participants for this workshop is underway. Participants will receive travel support to the AAPT meeting. This workshop will be the afternoon of Sunday, July 29 and the evening of Monday July 30.

ComPADRE Wide

• Search
  • Up to the minute search should now be implemented. When you approve an item through choosing, it should be in the search after a minute or so.
  • Full text searching is now available. When a keyword appears in an indexed full text search document, the document matches are indicated in the hitlist. Example: http://psrc.aapt.org/search/search.cfm?q=appreciation
  • An indexing option on the Admin Menu will allow you to do a manual re-index of your collection if necessary. This should rarely be necessary. A full re-index is conducted each night.
• Extensive work on the Link Checker was conducted in preparation for full text indexing of linked materials' front pages.
• Help Files: Lyle worked on getting Danny's help files ready for the collections in a preliminary fashion. These are available on staging. Example: http://staging.compadre.org/astronomy/services/help/
• Feedback form - If a message has an html link or script in it, it is now rejected with the following error message: "Due to increased spam, HTML is no longer allowed in the feedback form. Please edit your comment and try again."

• The Journal of Research in Science Teaching came online in September. We have a tagger going through the related items (Down to 49 in PER-Central) to link to the online articles. • We have imported all of the articles from the PRST Special Topics Journal and have set it up so that automatic imports of future articles can be activated.
• We prepared for the first release of "Reviews in PER"

• Caroline had a problem cloning 2 items. This had to do with something to do with the suggestion database having a smaller field than necessary, and is now fixed. Resolved

• Relations and Annotations were not working from the Portal - The portal's "items" directory is a special case as admin functions are not available from this pseudo-collection. The exclusion of administrator functions also excluded files to handle these functions through an oversight. Resolved

• On staging, search results no longer have preview snapshots. Perhaps in the future we will revisit this possibility.

Outstanding Experimentations We Didn't Work On

• Google Analytics
• The new tagging interface - (login required to view the preliminary new interface )
• A script for making posts that have links without anchors auto-create the appropriate html.
• Redesign of Posting Page including potential WYSIWYG functionality
• Discussions with Erwin regarding the ZipEnable module. This module would improve initial load times of some pages substantially.
